Relationship wrecovering alcoholic What do I do? Alcohol Treatment

 Question

I have in a relationship for a year. I met my SO (significant other) with a friend, then met him later at work a few years. After a few months with him, I decided to start from. We had the same morals and family values, integrity, had a lot of fun (not based drink) and seemed a perfect fit. He always greeted me, gave me credit for the value of me and showered me with love. In June last year arrested for drunken driving, the allegations reported to our employers and the company warned that treatment in a rehabilitation center for alcoholics. He entered a treatment program for 30 days in February this year. At first I was good, was working the steps and looks forward to its  key issues . After the third week, things took a different turn. It was negative, rude, insensitive, medium-and miserable. This problem has been constant since. I’ve always been very optimistic, positive and cheerful. I have said repeatedly that there should be a motivational speaker.  After a while I have that changes werent in it – a feeling that he lacks character noticed synical to sleep tired (due to the inability), frequent headaches and stomach pains, and lack of courage, all my efforts seem pointless. In the past two weeks we had two  spin . If they misbehave,  to keep quiet and stand back, or angry at something as inappropriate and can not be borne for a few days.
Then I said,  I reminded him of his ex-wife when I’m angry. Last weekend, he broke with me because it  is moody and has said it is better to lose a short fuse  (in a tone that which is used to scold a child.) At this point, I don ‘I said nothing, and all day without communication. our children and their mother were present, so that I can not believe it was the right time to matters.I called to discuss this evening and the next morning, and did not answer my calls. It has now been almost a week and always feel free to contact me. # 1 – I read other blogs and decided that their conduct  normal  for the recovery. I feel terrible that my behavior called his ex-wife and he, the fact that his  negative world  can have a party to rationalize. I see this as their problem, not mine. # 2 – How can a logical person to  punish  someone  not in a position with his moods, if they just manage what you do not know what goes through a person’s head (for a week), why no call? # 3 – How long does it take to fight someone? In other words, if we really are responsible for their own actions and quit blaming the rest of the world? Any information, idea or similar experience to appreciate the grace!

AnswerJust because someone goes through the recovery does not mean you get a pass to be negative, disrespectful or rude to the person there to support them. I can say I love you, or you have not been so, but how much do you think it will do in the short-term improvement? Not their fault, their moods, actions, etc. If these feelings of guilt then pushes itself to you. He is a grown man and must carry the responsibility for their own actions so far, there is no excuse for that recovery. The fact that he says remind him of his ex-wife is a proof that he is trying to hurt you. Why do you want with someone who insulted him, and says such things be?  They teach people how to treat them  – this quote is true, and unfortunately it seems that you enjoy it leave you with in this way for some time, why change on Earth? A Young Mans Self Esteem to Seek A Alcoholism Treatment

Regardless of Jesse’s awful employment record and financial laxity, however, somehow he made it a point to alcoholism and excessive manner on a day-to-day basis.

So it came as no big jolt when Jesse got a fourth DWI. When he went to court, the judge stated to Jesse that his alcohol-related actions was appalling and, as a result, he was going to sentence Jesse to serve nine months in the city jail.

Time In Jail To Reflect On The Injurious Effects of Irresponsible Drinking

During his time in jail, Jesse was expected to learn more about alcohol facts, about the destructive effects of hazardous and irresponsible drinking, and he was expected to get alcohol counseling. The judge highlighted the fact that unless Jesse receives professional alcohol rehab and learns how to live a life of abstinence, he will probably be spending a lot more time incarcerated in jail.

Jesse articulated that he comprehended what the magistrate was asserting but he still believed that placement in the county jail was not the most logical verdict. The judge thought otherwise and asserted that it was his professional duty to keep alcohol abusers off the streets who drive and drink and who get a DWI. To validate this assertion, the magistrate quoted some long-standing, comprehensively researched alcohol statistics that underscored some of the unhealthy results that are related to irresponsible and hazardous drinking.

Even though Jesse knew that he drank in an excessive and hazardous manner, he never thought that he was alcohol dependent. So it was a big bombshell when Jesse began experiencing alcohol withdrawal symptoms about two hours after after getting locked up in the city jail.

To deal with his alcohol withdrawals in a harm free manner, Jesse was transferred to a drug and alcohol rehab facility for alcohol detoxification and then brought back to jail. While locked up in the municipal jail Jesse received alcohol counseling but due to the fact that he got this rehab as something that was forced upon him, he neglected to take ownership of his hazardous drinking.

When his time in the local jail was finished, the judge without reservation announced to Jesse that he would be under careful observation and would be mandated to take periodic alcohol tests.

Jessie’s Abusive and Excessive Drinking Prevents Him From Living in a Mature and Accountable Manner

After hearing how Jesse was unsuccessful in taking ownership of his drinking situation and how he reluctantly followed the therapy protocol while in the county jail, the judge knew that it was essentially a matter of time before he would be seeing Jesse once again in court about his excessive and irresponsible drinking behavior. As the judge reflected on Jesse’s situation, he couldn’t help but think about how some people never use common sense and learn how to live in a mature and effective manner.

An Old Relationship Bolsters Jesse’s Self Esteem and Motivates and Inspires Him to Radically Change His Life by Getting Alcohol Treatment

But something happened in Jesse’s life that thoroughly changed his negative lifestyle. One day when he was at the local grocery store buying cigarettes, he met Alice, a girl he hadn’t seen since the eighth grade. After exchanging pleasantries, Alice frankly told Jesse that due to her alcohol and drug abuse she was fortunate to be alive.

When Jesse asked her what happened that changed her life so thoroughly, she told Jesse that when her cousin Jackie passed away from a drug overdose, this forced her to see the injurious and damaging life she had been living.

She underscored the point that the first thing she did after her cousin’s funeral was to begin going back to the church she attended when she was in junior high school. That was six years ago and with the guidance, support, and help of her reverend and other people who went to her church, she began going to Alcoholics Anonymous and she also got drug and alcohol rehab at the free clinic. Alice told Jesse that in spite of a few rough moments, she is at last on the path to long term sobriety and feeling a sense of bliss and happiness for the first time in her adult life. When Jesse accepted Alice’s invitation to go to her parish she was pleasantly surprised. After going to about seven or eight church services, for the first time since he was twenty-one years old, Jesse felt a strengthened sense of self esteem and started thinking that maybe there was hope for him and that he could at last address his drug and alcohol problems, get alcohol rehab, and start living a more healthy and beneficial life.

Alcohol Addiction Alcohol Relapse and Enabling Alcohol Treatment

It is interesting to mention something that family members who have been negatively affected by the alcohol addiction of another family member apparently do not know. It seems that by protecting the alcohol dependent individual with untruths and deceitfulness to those outside the family, these well-intentioned family members have basically created a condition that makes it easier for the alcohol addicted person to persevere and press forward with his or her injurious, detrimental style of life.

Clearly, instead of helping the alcoholic and themselves, these family members have essentially become enablers who have mistakenly helped worsen the alcohol dependent individual’s drinking problem even further.

Perhaps the real downside of this is that the alcohol dependent person will continue drinking in an abusive and hazardous manner and experience diverse “alcohol side effects.” Some of these side effects include deteriorating relationships, considerable financial problems, legal issues (such as getting arrested for one or more DUIs), employment difficulties, diminished mental functioning, and poor health.

Relapses Can and Do Occur

According to the research findings and statistics on alcohol addiction, another key alcohol addiction issue has to do with alcohol relapses. Relapses take place when an alcohol addicted individual has fruitfully gone through alcoholism rehabilitation and then returns to drinking a number of weeks or months later. At first thought, this predicament seems contradictory to common sense and looks so improbable that it forces a person to wonder why anyone who has lived through the dreadfulness of alcohol dependency can return to drinking a short while after successful alcohol rehab and in turn after attaining sobriety. There are, without a doubt, more than a few reasonable reasons for this.

It should be pointed out, conversely that alcohol dependency research that has centered on the enduring outcomes of alcohol addiction has demonstrated-proven that long after the alcohol dependent person has discontinued his or her drinking, fundamental alterations in the way in which the alcoholic’s brain functions are still present. As a consequence, all a recovering alcohol dependent person has to do to involve himself or herself in behaviors that correspond with the alterations that have come about in the brain is to begin drinking again.

The Need for An Important Lifestyle Transformation

There are other reasons why many recovering alcohol dependent individuals return to drinking a few weeks or a few months after reaching sobriety. According to the alcohol addiction research literature, to make a successful recovery, the alcohol addicted individual needs new ways of responding and thinking in order to deal more effectively with challenging alcohol-related situations that will take place.

Conditions such as returning to the same alcohol addictive atmosphere or to the same geographic location; interacting once again with friends from the time when the alcohol dependent individual was drinking abusively; or familiar songs, smells, or activities.
